2009 WA UDIA Awards for Excellence - Urban Renewal Winner

Condor Tower

GRA was the proud winner of the Urban Renewal award for Condor Tower - 22 St George’s Terrace, Perth at the recent Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards for Excellence.

Condor Tower is not a typical residential apartment building. It represents a unique example of urban renewal, and how to recycle an existing building in the heart of Perth City to create a high density, sustainable residential environment in proximity to a variety of facilities and services.

A unique and very special feature of the project is the Condor Tower Car Park Art Project. Beneath the development is a multi - level basement car park that is fully screened from public view. To further enhance the development and support the local community, Condor Developments (the Owner of Condor Tower) commissioned various local artists to convert what would otherwise be a standard ‘grey’ parking facility into a five level work of art - with the theme of each parking level based on the "elemental planes of Earth, Space, Sky, Land, Underwater and Core" www.australianedge.net

The UDIA recognised the innovation, uniqueness, and sustainable vision behind this project by presenting GRA and Condor Developments with this prestigious award.

Condor Tower was also nominated for the National UDIA Excellence Awards.
