Strategy
The Homeport Geraldton site is located approximately 4 kilometres from the centre of Geraldton, on the Geraldton-Mt Magnet Road. The philosophy behind creation of Homeport Geraldton is to provide the residents of Geraldton and the Mid West Region a commercial park with a dedicated and comprehensively planned bulky goods precinct, with a mix of large format retail, showroom and service commercial land uses.
Town Planning
GRA has undertaken the statutory planning tasks required to enable Commercial Properties Group to implement the project, including the rezoning the land under the Local Authority town planning scheme, preparation of an Outline Development Plan, and subdivision applications.
Design
GRA has prepared an Outline Development Plan to ensure the design of the commercial park is not only commercially-sound but consistent with current urban design standards and expectations. In conjunction with the client, and in liaison with prospective occupiers, the Outline Development Plan proposes three distinct development precincts connected by a through public road system, to maximise permeability and connectivity to the surrounding locality. The design ensures that active building frontages are orientated toward a central vehicle – pedestrian spine, with maximum commercial exposure to passing trade on Geraldton-Mt Magnet Road and the proposed Geraldton North-South (bypass) Highway.
